As we are approaching the cold winter months, it's time to plan ways to keep your guests warm at your winter wedding. Winter weddings are so romantic, dreamy, and can be very chilly! Whether your event is surrounded by colorful leaves in November, or under the falling snow in January, your guests (and you) will want to stay warm while witnessing this union of love!
Take care of your guests and keep them warm so you and your loved ones can enjoy the day! Here are some ways to stay warm at your winter wedding.
Winter Preparation
Inform your guests! Have helpful information located on your website/details card about weather appropriate attire! You know more about the events of the day and your wedding venue than your guests do, so make sure they know what to expect and how to be prepared for the environment.
An example of this would be something along the lines of:
"The ceremony will be held outdoors. Winter attire is best suited for the weather conditions to stay warm."
Consider Conditions When Choosing Your Venue
Your ceremony and reception venue will play a big role in the outcome of your guest's experience during harsh weather conditions. Here are some things to consider when choosing a venue for your winter wedding:
Is the space indoors or outdoors?
Is the indoor space well heated?
Will the indoors space be able to fit all of your guests?
Are there fireplaces?
If the space is outdoors, do they supply working outdoor heaters?
Is there enough heaters for the amount of guests?
There are many factors to consider when choosing the place to get married, but winter weather calls for extra considerations.
Winter Wedding Favors
Some wedding favors get tossed and forgotten, but one thing that your guests will definitely appreciate is something to help them stay warm at your chilly event!
A great option is blankets! Have blankets set out for your guests to grab as needed, this can be something for them to borrow for the time being or for them to take home as a gift!
"To have and to hold in case you get cold"
Hot Food
We all love food, but even better, hot food! Hot food/drinks is a great way to keep your guests warm in the winter.
Serve up a hot chocolate or coffee bar, warm soup, smore's station, anything warm will do the trick!
Outdoor Fire Pit
One of my absolute favorite winter activities is sitting around a fire outside! Your guests will take advantage of this accommodation in the cold weather. It is super cozy!
Dance
A great way to keep your guests warm and moving all night is by dancing!
Make sure you have a great DJ or band that will entertain your guests and keep them on the dance floor.
